The Challenge: Develop an iconic brand that speaks to its audience
If you have ever experienced raw, itchy skin you would immediately understand the appeal of a soothing solution that eased your discomfort. Naming this product/company was a whole new animal... it needed to reflect both the problem as well as the answer.
The "Ah-ha" Moment: Use a little juxtaposition for creative contrast
Breakthrough brand names are often disruptive, so we created CalmCoyote, a lotion that soothed wild skin and tamed the beastly issue of unsightly irritations. CalmCoyote not only provided an iconic name, but it also leveraged the linguistic appeal of alliteration. Have the two “C”s provided easy recall, much like Coca Cola, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Bed, Bath & Beyond. In this case, the name went way beyond, exceeding the client’s expectations while creating a brand filled with a healing formula and howling fun.
